Location

Where is the event based?

The competition's headquarters and pilot's base is Hotel Courtyard Marriott, located on Autopista Duarte, km 9.

Airport

Which airport should I fly to?

The closest airport to the hotel is Cibao International Airport (STI), about 5 minutes driving. Two other near-by airports are Las Americas, in Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Puerto Plata (POP), both of them 2 hours away from the hotel, the first one south and the latest, north.

What about the other airports?

All other airports are quite far away from the hotel. Punta Cana is a 5 hours drive and so are other airports in the northeast.

Transfer: Airport - Comp / Comp - Airport

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

If you arrive at Cibao International Airport (STI) we will provide a free shuttle to the hotel. Further information on this is provided after you register.

If you arrive at any other airport, there are basically two options: the cheap one and the expensive one. The expensive one is, of course, the simplest: take a taxi at the airport and tell the driver the hotel's name and address. If you arrive at Puerto Plata (POP) or Santo Domingo (SDQ) a taxi to the hotel would cost about 120 USD.

Now, let's review the cheap option:

Either if you arrive at Santo Domingo (SDQ) or Puerto Plata (POP), the procedure is the following:

1st- Take a taxi at the airport and ask the driver to take you to the bus stop of a transport company called 'Caribe Tours' in Santo Domingo or Puerto Plata, depending on which airport you arrived at. That will cost you USD 20 - 25 and it's a 30 - 40 minutes drive. Every taxi driver knows where Caribe Tours is.

2nd- Take Caribe Tour's bus to 'Santiago'. That will cost you around USD 10. Caribe Tours' buses leave every hour from 6 AM to 8 PM.

3rd- Once in Santiago, take a taxi and ask the driver to drop you at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Autopista Duarte, km 9. That will cost you USD 10.

To go back to the airport after the comp the procedure is quite similar.

Dates

When should I arrive in the Dominican Republic?

The comp starts first time in the morning of Monday 18th February. Ideally, you should be at the hotel between 15:00 and 20:00 the day before, which is on Sunday 17th. The accommodation for the night of the 17th is included in the registration fee.

When should I leave?

The comp ends on Saturday 23rd February, in the afternoon. Check-out is on Saturday morning. If you wish to stay any longer you will need to contact the hotel directly. The organization will provide a place to leave your luggage until Saturday evening, after check-out.

Longer holiday?

Can I stay at the Courtyard Marriot before and / or after the comp starts / ends?

You can contact the hotel at + (1) 809 329 2019 for reservations. Be advised that in the case you get there ahead of the event, you most probably will need to be relocated in a different room the day the event starts.
